This organic dust flies to about three kilometers away from the formation site and causes serious respiratory infections [85,86]. A lot of efforts have been made to combat such infections in environmentally friendly ways without negative impact on human health. Many chemical compounds such as organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, sodium bicarbonate, sodium orthophosphate, etc. have been used to kill microorganisms.
However, all of these have one or more limitations such as less solubility, direct application to products, high cost, toxicity.
One of the important examples of organic compounds used for disinfection is formaldehyde due to its low cost and high bactericidal activity.
However, it is toxic as well as carcinogenic in nature. Therefore, it is necessary to find a method to kill bacteria and fungi effectively without harming human health. Literature review shows that Ag NPs have good bactericidal properties, which could be an excellent alternative [87,88].

They are effective in killing a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Gram-negative bacteria include genera Acinetobacter, Escherichia, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, and Vibrio, while Gram-positive bacteria include genera such as Bacillus, Clostridium, Enterococcus, Listeria, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus. Studies demonstrate that Ag NPs with a diameter of 22.5 nm increase the antibacterial activity of some antibiotics such as penicillin G, amoxicillin, erythromycin, clindamycin and vancomycin [90].
