Nano silver are used in food packaging to increase shelf life

Antibacterial food packaging from nano silver
A packaging material is desirable to be resistant to air and moisture and biodegradable [107]. “Smart” and “active” food packaging based on nano (nano silver, nano copper, nano chitosan, nano metal oxide such as zinc, titanium) offer a number of advantages over conventional packaging methods. to provide better packaging materials with improved mechanical strength, barrier properties and antibacterial membranes for nano-scanning to detect pathogens and warn consumers about the safety status of food [108 ].
The “one active material” nanocomposites for packaging and coating materials can also be used to improve food packaging [109]. Many researchers raise awareness of the antibacterial properties [110-111] of organic compounds, ie essential oils, organic acids, and bacteria [110-111] and their association in ghosts. High molecular weight as antimicrobial packaging.
However, these compounds are not suitable for various food processing steps that require high temperatures and pressures because of their high sensitivity to physical conditions. By using inorganic nanoparticles, strong antibacterial activity can be achieved at lower concentrations and more stable under extreme conditions.
Therefore, it has become interesting recently to use these nanoparticles in antibacterial food packaging. “Anti-bacteria packaging” is the packaging that actively comes into contact with the food product or the internal space has the effect of inhibiting or delaying the growth of microorganisms present on the food surface [112]. Strong antimicrobial activity can be achieved at lower concentrations and is more stable under extreme conditions.

Several nanoparticles such as nano silver, nano copper, nano chitosan, and metal oxide nanoparticles such as titanium oxide or zinc oxide have been reported to have antibacterial properties [113-114].
